The blow of returning to civilization from Chelatna was softened by news 8″ or so had fallen since we’d left town.  Hunter called sunday night and mentioned the pass was empty on Sunday and that good snow would be easy to find. Monday morning was cold, I saw the thermometer get as low as 4 while we were driving through Bird.  We noticed from the car that Sunburst didn’t have more the 12 tracks on it, and with no one in the parking lot decided that’d be the best option in our quest for some low effort powder.  The snow was super light, giving occassional hints of the wind crust lying beneath, but it skied excellently, and Hunter got a few quality shots from my first run.  It was snowing again today, It’ll be interesting to see how all of this stacks up, I’ll have some video from Chelatna soon, until then…
